Credits to Seren☆ for helping me clarify the rules. Since the rules might still be confusing, I've also included an example puzzle which should clear things up.
Rules: Place each shape from the bank given outside the grid into the grid so that no two shapes share an edge and all unused cells form one orthogonally connected area. Rotating and reflecting shapes is allowed. Compasses cannot be used by a shape. A number in a compass indicates the size of the orthogonally connected region which contains the cell directly in front of the compass in the indicated direction and consists only of cells which are both unshaded and further in the indicated direction than the compass itself.
Thing this could become a super genre! Love it.
